Frozen Yogurt

I recently discovered Dreyer’s Slow Churned black cherry flavored and vanilla cultured frozen dairy dessert.  Boy, is this stuff good!  You can eat the entire carton in a day and come in at about 1200 calories. :)  That leaves you with some room for chips later in the day.

Ok, I know this is not the point of reduced calorie stuff. It’s just that it’s so darned good!  I’ll have to exercise a few extra hours this week to make up for it.

Getting some exercise

I haven’t been in much of a mood for exercise the last several days.  I did swim a little on Saturday and even less on Sunday, since it was so cold.

I haven’t felt much like walking.  :(

What is it about exercise?  I either love it or hate it.  It’s been a good 20 years since I loved it.  What do I need to do to turn that switch back on?

The pool is open!

The pool is now open.  What a great day for all humankind! The water temperature is a bit chilly still at 72 degrees, but it’s tolerable for me.  I expect to go for a swim this afternoon.  Swimming is a great way to exercise.  I’ve noticed though, that I’m especially hungry after I’m done.  I need to establish a habit of choosing healthy foods, so that’s what I’m going to work on.  Today my after pool snack will be baby carrots.  I hate that baby carrots had to give their lives so I can satisfy my hunger, but their sacrifice is much appreciated.

Lunch

During the work week, lunch is usually something one of us runs out to get.  I still eat as though I’m 20 years old and the extra calories aren’t going to get me.

Today I made a conscious effort to eat less, at least.  We still went out, but I had half a sandwich instead of the whole thing.  We’re going out for a walk in just a bit, too!

I had some oatmeal for breakfast. Today I’m doing better than most days. I know that weight loss requires expending more calories than I take in.  I need to burn more calories and eat less.

What’s an omnivore?

Britannica says that an ominvore is an “animal with wide food preferences.” That describes me. There’s very little that I don’t like, and it shows. Twenty years ago I could get away with it, but not now!

I’ve made my mind up to lose some weight and get back into shape. I’m going to keep track of my efforts here for all the world to see.
